For fans of Led Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy, and ZZ Top, Australia’s GREYSTONE CANYON are about to release a new album, titled “Something Borrowed…Something New” on Friday, 5th December 2025 via Rockshots Records.
It’s an all-encompassing recording that combines brand-new original songs alongside carefully chosen hits from the musical heroes who influenced this band’s hard rock sound. The compilation connects the past and present by fusing poignant tributes with road-tested original compositions.
filled with overbite,
RAW RAMP
sharp clawed rhythm,
and keen-eared perceptiveness…
As vocalist/guitarist Darren Cherry says: “This is our most honest record so far – real instruments, real performances, all captured live in one room. We wanted to remind listeners of the warmth and punch that only true rock bands can create together. It’s pure, old-school energy and we had an absolute blast making it.”
.
An example of the talent on offer is the band’s cover of Thin Lizzy’s 1973 “Suicide” (later recorded for ‘Lizzy’s 1975 “Fighting” album.) The Greystone Canyon version of the number is super-packed with grit and rock ‘n’ roll hutzpa and comes laced with the type of feisty pugnacity that’s canny as a gutter cat hunting a dirt yard rodent along the tracks: in other words, this track is filled with overbite, sharp clawed rhythm, and keen-eared perceptiveness. Cool! Check out the video below.
Other covers on the new album include UFO’s, “Doctor, Doctor”, and ZZ Top’s “Just Got Paid.”
