Kathryn William Unveils Pond Line-Up for October Dates

Kathryn Williams is excited to announce that Neill MacColl will be joining herself and Simon Edwards alongside Jonny Enright (Keys + Trombone + Vox) and Richard Marcangelo (Drums + Electronic Percussion) for The Pond’s fully electric forthcoming UK dates, replacing Ginny Clee who has had to drop out of live activity for personal reasons.

Neill was born into a hugely important family in the world of folk-accoustic music. His father, Ewan MacColl and mother, Peggy Seeger, were the famously purist pair at the heart of the British folk revival of the early sixties. Whilst nobody is purely the product of their parents, the influence of a father who wrote such classics as “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” and “Dirty Old Town” and a mother who is a supremely talented multi-instrumentalist is undeniable. Neill was part of his parents’ touring band from the age of 15.

Fans will already be familiar with Neill from his and Kathryn’s stunning 2008 album, Two, and some songs from that album will be getting The Pond’s otherworldly make-over on these dates. On their performing chemistry,  The Independent noted that they  ‘… draw the best out of each other …Their telepathic understanding and vocal blend are breath taking.’

Says Kathryn, “We will also be ‘ponding up’ some older songs, like Just Leave from  The Quickening, All Apologies-  the Nirvana track from Relations – and even a couple of songs from the first record, Dog Leap Stairs.”

Kathryn has also announced herself as solo support for The Pond’s shows. This part of the show “Will be the quieter end of my spectrum” she reveals. “Mostly solo, and a bit with Neill MacColl. So there is a real juxtaposition between the two sets. I’ll be using tape echo and loops with my vocal – I’ve never messed so much with pedals and my voice before. Should be fun!”

Raw Ramp Music Mag recently described the sounds of Kathryn Williams and The Pond live as “Moreish and irresistible…
