Bwani Junction Civil War

Winners of a Scottish music industry ‘Best Newcomer‘ award for 2012, Bwani Juntion has attracted support from BBC Radio 1, including Chris Moyles, Huw Stephens, John Kennedy, Zane Lowe, Ally McCrae & Fearne Cotton, BBC 6Music and Five Live. They also became the first band ever to play on top of The Forth Bridge in Edinburgh – an audacious stunt to promote their previous single, ‘Two Bridges’.

They are now set to release the first single from their second album, again produced by Paul Savage (The Delgados, Franz Ferdinand, Arab Strap, Mogwai, Teenage Fanclub) at the hallowed Chem 19 studios. Titled ‘Civil War‘, the track shows a growing maturity from these young rock recruits barely into their 20’s.

Bwani Juntion Civil War

We had a listen to ‘Civil War’ and here’s what we thought:

Against a Celtic-sounding mulch of sounds and intelligently angry tom-tom beats, the tempered lead vocal from Rory flares and sparkles like a firefly in the wind.

As the verse steps its way along a predetermined path, the pace increases a notch, until you get to that glorious chorus. It has a certain sadness to it. Guitars continue to boil together, moving as close as they dare to the decanted voices – until you witness the increase in voltage and feel the pensive tension increase. Magnificent.
