“Step back inside me Chromeo… she said … step back inside me take me to your bed… ”
La, la, la. Sorry, we can not help it. That is what we sing when we hear the name of this band.
But the romantic electro funk outfit Chromeo (also known as pee & dee to their friends) do that kind of thing to your head.
You know, turning what should be (in right minds) cliched music – and turning it into hypnotic fun.
Now the band bring us ‘White Women’ which includes “Jealous (I Ain’t With It)” and a smashing new video.
The song begins with some groovy solstice vibes and low-beat thumps that spin around in your inner ear to make you tingle with excitement.
The vocals are striated, elegant and refined – without losing any of their purity through synthesis.
The whole thing plunges you into a baptismal pool of living light.
And that presumptuous beat keeps bumping you along.
This is the third millennium incarnation of Soul Train’s ‘Shalamar’… We’re glad the sound is back…
Super-cool ritual purification for your summer soul.
