X.O.C Gets Along

X.O.C (pronounced ZAH-ck) composes, arranges, produces, and writes every aspect of his music and cites Prince, Michael Jackson, and Timbaland as his biggest musical influences.

This week he has announced the release of his electro-R&B debut EP ‘TheBreakUp’ which will be available as a FREE download from October 8, 2014. The first single is available to download now from the artist’s own website.

X.O.C was inspired to write the 4-track EP after going through a tumultuous relationship, and he recorded it in isolation in his home studio.

Writing the music for this EP has been incredibly therapeutic for me, and although I don’t want to pigeonhole my music as just relationship oriented, I felt that this story needed to be told.” He explained.

We listened to ‘Get Along’:

This is smooth and gold-leafed. Ornamental and fluid, like a glass of spiralling vapours. The rhythms are sporadic – but impeccable – and have a charm all of their own.

The listener cannot help but think that the sentiment [Why can’t we just] “Get Along” is wasted at this point in the broken relationship … right now X.O.C needs a friend to spell it out “She ain’t listening any more!”

Yes, this is love – it’s sentimental. But it is not cloying – it’s fascinating.

And although not entirely original – it is suitable filling for the heart.
