Freedom Fry is the combination of French songstress Marie Seyrat with Michigan-born musical chameleon Bruce Driscoll (also of Blondfire).
We recently discovered the duo when their recent song “Yeah You” strayed into our camp like a honeydrunk bear. Sweet, fuzzy and subtly dangerous.
When we heard that number, we said that Marie’s voice was “Velvety glorious – purring and dribbling into the clefts – while Bruces’ voice was clear, sweet and effective…”
Now they release “21” which was recorded with the help of their audiences at a residency at The Echo in LA. The first night the crowd provided the handclaps, the next the group vocals, and for the grand finale they gave a stretched out scream.

We had a listen:
This is like a party calypso in a sweetened ginger factory.
Spicy, frosted… And if you are clever you can make out just a hint of bitterness in all the crystalized rind.
The vocals are, of course, permanently silver-finned and perfect to behold, while they slice across the astonishing musicianship.
And the melody is more attractive than a twinkle in the eyes of your lover…
