English Soul from NATALIE DUNCAN Black and White

Nottingham-born (UK) singer-songwriter Natalie Duncan whose debut album, ‘Devil In Me’ we described as “immediately satisfying magnificence” [full review here] has now released her new EP Black and White.

Her latest material sees her experiment with new modes of songwriting, turning to heavy electronic manipulation of her characteristically raw vocal.

We listened to the sophisticated title track of the EP:

The vocal reverberates as it propagates around the pivotal drum.

It tends to suspend itself just a little above the rhythm, like a low-hanging shroud.

But then things perk up a bit, and some new sunshine voices superimpose themselves onto the cooler sounds below.

These luxurious vocals, along with wonderful synth creation, condensate into super-rich layers of softness.
