New From The fin. ‘Night Time’ Reviewed Here + UK Dates

Originating in the bustling Japanese port-city of Kobe in the Osaka Bay — The fin. have become something of an attraction at home because of their topical Europhile mixture of synth, chillwave and dream-pop, complete with English lyrics and addressing universal problems like rising uncertainty and loss of direction.

Often mentioned alongside the likes of Beach House, the band consists of Yuto Uchino (vocals and synths), Ryosuke Odagaki (guitar), Takayasu Taguchi (bass) and Kaoru Nakazawa (drums), all aged 24. The band have already set their sights beyond Japan… This March, they embarked on a nine-date tour of the United States, completing the tour with a spell-binding performance at SXSW. The UK is next (live dates below.)

Plucky guitar rhythms bravely spar with squelched synths and some paper-thin yet angelic vocals.

The sadness portrayed here is beautifully effective..

Whilst the melody penetrates the pores and lingers in the bone.
