The dark ‘n’ dreamy Belgo-Swedish avant-pop duo Victoria + Jean were born between Stockholm and Brussels a little more than twenty years ago.
Victoria’s tender voice was made for the electrical caresses of Jean’s guitar. Together, they write songs and they roam clubs.
Their sounds lay somewhere between PJ Harvey and Depeche Mode and their videos are always things of great beauty and hidden joy.
We have been listening to Härligt Sverige
A slighted hollow beat endures within a shallow crater filled with nothing but emptiness and desire.
The voided-sanity vocal is not a cry or lament but more likely a convulsing sob.
Yet it remains supernaturally light and oh-so star-high… just a gasp and a jerk away from heavenly perfection.
Beautiful Sweden … the home of the weeping angels…
