When we last listened to the acclaimed Portland, Oregon rock quintet BLITZEN TRAPPER we thought that their hill-country blues numbers were punctuated with nostalgia, longing and regret. Nothing much has changed…
Their sweet, modest-caring rock sounds are still characterized by rough, smoky voices and lots of good-willed hobo.
This month BLITZEN TRAPPER will release their new 3-track EP “Mystery And Wonder” before a European tour in February that will include dates in the UK in London and Brighton. [Details below.]

They have just released their video for the perfectly crafted opening track Mystery and Wonder.
We had a listen —
Disappointment, grief and nostalgia hardly ever get so nicely wrapped up as this…
The voice is rough and nasal. The guitars are bubbling streams of eloquence and the melody is as friendly as a warm billowing skirt.
We loved the low-hum bass that drills into the bones.
This is not sentimental mush (although it could easily have been) but, rather, it is warm-hearted and genuinely moving.
