These Walls by MELODY ROSE with ANDREW CARROLL

New York singer/songwriter MELODY ROSE reminds us of those savvy female acts of the 1960s and 1970s.

Her twinkly pop melodies — created with jazz influences — are nervous but incisive, witty but profound and always confident.

Melody studied opera for ten years, and studied vocal jazz for another eight.

Her warm voice is a mix of hot frothy cappuccino and blown marshmallow fluffiness. It can be sweet, but it is also perceptive and knowing. In other words, it retains engaging sapidity ..

We have been listening to “These Walls” with Andrew Carroll

This delicately produced piano accompanied ditty rattles along at a brisk pace…

It feels a bit vaudevillian and even cabaret inspired — but lyrically it speaks simple truths and contains enough eccentric (perhaps even schmaltzy) imagery to keep us occupied and amused.

This is filled with lola-lola theatricals, hotchy motchy harmonies and sweet, sweet intent…
