Forging by XYLOURIS WHITE

We have been listening to FORGING by XYLOURIS WHITE @XylourisWhiteBand.

This is the inventive and charismatic duo comprising of Cretan lute-player George Xylouris and experimental drummer Jim White.

Forging  begins with the same rhythms as “Common People” [PULP 1995] but then you get to the many quilted  edges, the frayed remnants and the shimmering Eastern jingles that makes this all the more expressive and unusually psychedelic.

Instrumentation sounds like sitar, dilruba and tabla so suggests George Harrison circa 1967 but there is also a ‘Status Quo‘ rockiness in this too ! Yes really…

If you like joyous melody and clever world-class folk instrumentation… try this on for size!
