The electric blues can trace its lineage back to Elmore James.
But the queen of slide guitar is undoubtedly the Finnish musician & singer-songwriter ERJA LYYTINEN.

We applauded her “The Sky Is Crying” album (2014) which we described in our print edition as a re-telling of classic electric-blues. With a voice that’s clear-cut enough to stab across the increasingly hypnotic guitar-work … and strings touched so lighty … the sounds seem lost in the mists..
Now an official music video has been released for her new single, 24 Angels, we had a listen:
This is a lush, warming folk-rock number with heartfelt burnt umber vocals and guitar sighs and wavers … a trembled heart of emotion.
Erja’s “Stolen Hearts” April 2017 UK Tour will begin at the Square & Compass in Ilminster on Sunday 9th April. [Other dates below video]
The new album was recorded at Sonic Pump Studios in Helsinki. Erja’s vocals were recorded at State of the Ark Studios in London by multi-platinum selling engineer and producer Chris Kimsey, known for his contributions to classic Rolling Stones albums Sticky Fingers and Some Girls. Kimsey also mixed the album.
