American blues musician and “King of Slydeco” SONNY LANDRETH has announced his first LIVE ALBUM in 12 years.
Eric Clapton has rated Landreth as one of the most “advanced guitarists” in the world.
Landreth played in Clifton Chenier’s Red Hot Louisiana Band, and also John Hiatt’s band, and with John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers.
More recently he was a guest performer on Eli Cook’s album, Primitive Son.
After recent plaudits, he found himself at a creative juncture. He sought to produce the full-length acoustic collection his fans hankered for, but also felt inclined to seize the experience of his loyal electric trio with his favourite musical confederates.
He sensed it was time for an expansive, career-spanning double-live album.
‘Recorded Live in Lafayette’ contains two marvellous live performances given by the Slide Guitar virtuoso in a 16-song, 93 minute, acoustic & electric package that embraces more musical material than any single album ever could.
The double CD and vinyl release via Provogue includes the most all-encompassing acoustic set ever recorded by Landreth, and opens with acoustic arrangements of the artist’s tunes dating back to the 1981 title cut of his debut album, ‘Blues Attack.’
