FUZZWALKER — BLOGTOBER show at the Finsbury

This week we attended the excellent Finsbury pub in North London on the second night of their incredible BLOGTOBER month.

We went to see the fabulous FUZZWALKER.

The conscientious and tireless people of LOST IN THE MANOR [label, PR and promotions] are putting on a show every night of the month…

That’s more than 90 exciting acts! Wow!

First on stage on Monday night was the London-based post-industrial band TAYNE.

Their amazing aural imagery, such as the meandering Heartbeat, involves pirouetting synths, yawing beats, crunchy guitars & rudderless connections. Their show was evocative and rich.

The main support was offered by the incredible Sussex / Hampshire pop-rock band AQUALASSIE AND THE SKY PUMAS [ALSP for convenience] whose lucid and memorable punk rock ‘n’ roll artworks were prismatic and very accomplished.

Headliners on the night were FUZZWALKER who are motivated by Brit Rockers such as Oasis, Hard-Fi, Stone Roses and The Clash.

Composer and frontman Matt Brook is assisted in his endeavours by Billy Dedman [bass] Donna Peters [drums] and Carlos De Los Santos [guitars.]

Songs such as the sparkly “Dirty Dog” were filled with expression and star-shaped guitar-work. Plus splendid drummery and some grungy grind in all the right places.

Of course, “Continental Breakfast” was super-slick with a whole bunch of silvery guitar riffs and imploring vocals.

The squelchy bits in the centre added ruffled bounce to the song — this was authentic and sincere.

Fuzzwalker is a high-energy combo that puts oomph into what they do.

They demonstrated shameless stamina and exciting energy on the night… and it wasn’t an easy slot to fill — a Monday evening at the beginning of the festival month. But that didn’t stop the Fuzzies from doing what they do best and they did it with aplomb. They produced some real fizz.

So we left The Fin feeling fuzzy. And that’s the best feeling. Right?
