Revolving around the centrepiece vocals of Greek/Cypriot singer Marlain Angelides, ASCENDING DAWN brings angular and cutting melodic prog-metal to a worldwide audience.

The London/NYC outfit also includes the talents of Mark Weatherley on drums & guitar, Owen Rees on guitar and Jennifer Fletcher on bass.
Their 2017 album re-release “Coalesce” has carbonated guitars and Cimmerian bass, with corundum depths and halo highs.
“All In Now” takes metal, classical prog, and even opera to create melodic metal heaven.
“Miscommunication” is a groaning and spasmodic rage of darkness with the light of hope kept around the rim and a hull of strident, off-kilter rhythms.
The guitars sputter and machine-gun and the celestial voice rises in ephemeral majesty above the many atmospheric layers…

And “Indiscretion” is brutal without being grim. With blattered yet error-free hits of percussion and deeply felt emotion expended in each splendid vocalization.
There’s sufficient chunky-staccato djent and jazzy-smooth ambience here to suit any modern prog-rock fan.
There’s also a lot of groovulous attitude, plenty of heavy metal bam-bukah and strong vocals filled with light, ardour, and purity…
