QUINN SULLIVAN has announced the upcoming release of his new studio album Wide Awake.
We have already commended his uplifting & rousing guitar play, his velvety vocals, and that smooth, flowing sense of efficiency you get with all of his work:
“I’ve always considered myself a songwriter,” he says. “On the last few records, it just wasn’t something I was doing all the time. I was focused on other things, like my guitar playing and developing my vocals, both of which I continue to do.”.
WIDE AWAKE, which is out June 4th, represents the next step for the determined young musician as he continues to become what we once described a: “progressively increasing psychological force in music…”
It feels like yesterday I was Twelve and on tour with Buddy Guy…
The guitar prodigy took guitar lessons at age three and appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show aged six. He had shared stages with Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, Los Lobos, The Roots, Derek Trucks, Susan Tedeschi and Joe Bonamassa by his mid-teens, so naturally he has an unrelenting sense of realization and achievement: “Obviously, as you get older you learn and experience more,” he says.
“Throughout the years, I’ve gotten to learn and work with so many amazing, accomplished musicians and people in the music industry and that has shaped me into who I am today. I’ve been at this my whole life. It feels like yesterday I was 12 and on tour with Buddy Guy. Back then I never would have thought I’d be here now, releasing my fourth album. It’s really pretty amazing.”
The new album was recorded in Los Angeles with producer/collaborator and Bayonets drummer Oliver Leiber — he’s the songwriter & producer behind hits for Paula Abdul and the guy who provided artists such as Ke$ha,The Corrs, Beth Hart etc technical assistance. WIDE AWAKE is a triumph of aptitude & dependability with Sullivan’s guitar-play frontmost on every track.
