THE DAMN TRUTH — Precious Verity

THE DAMN TRUTH — Montreal’s 60’s inspired psychedelic rock ‘n’ rollers — are releasing their self-titled album on March 14th via Spectra Musique.

Twelve years of hard touring has culminated in this, The Damn Truth’s fourth album project.

Produced by the legendary Bob Rock (Motley Crue, The Offspring, Bon Jovi, etc.), this disc represents the band’s steadfast internationally applauded rock ‘n’ roll energy.

The foursome is led by singer/guitarist Lee-La Baum, with drummer Dave Traina, bassist PY Letellier, and lead guitarist Tom Shemer.

Lee-la’s evocative, gravel-growling voice evokes pain and pleasure, hope and despair…

We had an early listen of ‘The Damn Truth’:

Be Somebody’ features a fast-paced chorus, numerous layers of ambition, and a consistently upbeat and catchy rhythm. Top quality!

Guitar and percussion create a fiery backdrop for Lee-la’s powerful vocals on ‘Love Outta Luck,’ which is a sensual and scorching song. This track also features deep bass lines and electrifying guitar riffs, hitting the listener’s headphones like an earthquake in a disco ball factory, to offer dazzling crystal shards of sound and bursts of pure wonderment.

Better This Way’, shared below, offers calmer rhythms, crispier guitar lines, and a super-memorable chorus that soars to impressive heights. The whole piece glitters like a sequined jacket, with the lead vocal piercing any looming anxieties about the future (anxieties we all share) like sunbeams in an overly-clouded sky.

I Just Gotta Let You Know’ boasts a raucous riff, incredibly tight bass-line, powerful beats, angelic guitars, and a hardish glam rock sound that’s reminiscent of Aerosmith’s Pump era.

The band also channel their inner Led Zeppelin on ‘The Willow’, to deliver a folk-rock piece, driven by guitar, that develops into an architectural triumph of concrete sound blocks, angular chords, blossoming architraves, and Lee-la’s evocative, gravel-growling voice that evokes pain and pleasure, hope and despair.

If you embrace nuanced rock songs that come super-packed with relentless energy, country influences, fuzz-rock shimmer, and classic Rolling Stones type styling, all enhanced by the most amazing vocal you’ve heard in a very long time, plus incredible guitar-work, you’ll adore this multicoloured dreamcoat of ideas and textures!
