“Stand On My Own” is the second single from CHANTEL MCGREGOR‘s upcoming album, “The Healing” due for a May 2025 release.
“The Healing” will be the first time that the singer-songwriter has written autobiographical material that promises to show an entirely distinct aspect of her both on an artistic level and also on an emotional level.
Demise, grief, and heartbreak are perhaps this album’s underlying subject matter: but the songs on the disc are not solely about sadness… theyr’e mostly about travelling beyond those inevitable passages of tears (we all must face) and into new horizons that will be filled with hope and optimism. These songs are about glimpsing future light rather than obesssing on past darknesses.
aspirational — leaves a delectable sense of hope for the future and anticipation for better times ahead…
RAW RAMP
Chantel says: “At its core, [the new single] Stand On My Own is about overcoming the weight of the anxieties and fears that can hold us back in life. It delves into the struggle of overthinking, battling internal voices, and dealing with the consequences of past mistakes or regrets.”
So, rather than being lost in a hazy state of longing reflection. “Stand On My Own” becomes a tussling confronation on the nature of maudlin self-pity as it delivers an underlying messsge to ‘get on with how things are.’ Thus, the vocal is emotional, genuine, and intrinsic. And the high-pitched guitar solo is aspirational — it leaves a delectable sense of hope for the future and anticipation for better times ahead.
Like her previous (February) single, Broken Heartless Liar, there’s a riff that brings splintered crevices, but this is threaded by a sense of gold-lined hope that runs through the entire piece.
Exhilaratingly wish-worthy!
To celebrate the album’s arrival on May 23rd, Chantel and her band will play a special launch show at a legendary venue, the 100 Club, on the same day.
