Southend-On-Sea UK band EIGHT ROUNDS RAPID smash out divine punk-songs like “String Theory” with its slicing beat and the heady shout that’s “My Mate”.

They have a new album, Object D’art … and last night the lads supported Wilko Johnson at the Royal Albert Hall. It doesn’t get any bigger than that!
Their songs have rhythmic & slightly delinquent vocals, courtesy of David Alexander (he also plays a keen wailing blues harp) and plenty of clever life-of-riley London chops played on guitar by Simon Johnson.
Rumbling rhythms from brilliant drummer Lee Watkins and rapid bass-plucking from Jules Cooper are as tight as the Victoria Road turnstiles after a bustling London derby.
All in all this band are a vital throwback to the best bits of London mod culture circa 1963–68: in other words, they encompass the innocence of the Small Faces, the authority of the Who and the blues artistry of the Yardbirds.
All this in a neat punk package… fabulous!
