JO-JO AND THE TEETH are a London based grandslam band with boatloads of fire in their belly!
Exemplifying fierce melodies, unsoured riffs, sharper-than-sharp licks, huge drums, and nifty rhythms, their vocals are perfect, and their song-lyrics tell revelatory stories!
Whiskey Dreams, their most recent single, explores the widespread availability of intoxicants and the almost insane embracement of alcoholism within the music industry.
The band boasts Jo-Jo O’Donoghue as vocalist and main songwriter, with Rylan Woods on guitar backing vox and songwriting, Sebastian Leiton on lead guitar, Max Battista on bass guitar and sound engineering, and Andy Barke on drums.
Whiskey Dreams is about navigating a flawed industry, where everyone is greedy, the music becomes secondary to the COMMERICAL exploitation of the band… but everything is FORGIVEN BY free drinks at the end!
RAW RAMP
Whiskey Dreams is about the music industry’s widespread alcoholism but also about the by-products of that embracement of alcoholism… for example, the sexism within the rock’n’roll world; and the reality of working in a working-class band in working class towns, singing to working class audiences who are almost always inebriated.
It’s about pouring one’s creative heart into an artitsic performance, believing in your accomplishment, yet the only promise from the industry is a free drink at the end of the show.
Whiskey Dreams is about navigating a flawed industry, where everyone is greedy, the music becomes secondary to the commercial exploitation of the band… but everything is forgiven by free drinks at the end of the night! This song is about quieting the mind of a woman who finds herself diametrically opposed to the preconceptions of an ugly whisky-drenched world she’s falling into.
