The acclaimed guitarist, singer, and songwriter PHILIP SAYCE is back with a new live album, “Scorched Earth: Volume 2 Live in LA / London” to coincide with an upcoming spring UK tour (dates shared below.)
This live album showcases the remarkable chemistry of Sayce and his exceptional bandmates, Sam Bolle on bass and Bryan Head on drums. They combine bluesy roughness, psychedelic soul, and thrilling rock ‘n’ roll to create a sonic-blizzard of complex vitality.
“Scorched Earth: Volume 2 Live in LA / London,” that was captured in two legendary music hubs, solidifies Philip Sayce’s status as a leading figure in contemporary blues-rock guitar. “These shows were pure electricity,” said Sayce.

Sayce, who was born in Aberystwyth, Wales but grew up in Toronto, Canada, has spent more than three decades performing his unique brand of blues, inspired by B.B. King, Albert King, Albert Collins, Buddy Guy, and Robert Cray. He became part of Melissa Etheridge’s band in 2004 and played at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival in New York City in 2013.
Sayce plays guitar with the precision of a carpenter using a power-plane on wood; shaving, adjusting, chip-breaking, and shouldering the notes, crafting them into neat spiraling coils of magnificent sound. We’ve described his live performance as “exuberance and intensity…”
To celebrate the announcement of the eagerly awaited live album, Sayce has dropped a track from the forthcoming album, available as a single, “Morning Star (Live).” The song is available on all streaming platforms and is accompanied by an official lyric video on YouTube (shared below.)
“Morning Star (Live)” features a lively burst of rapid guitar sounds, each note vying for dominance across the next. Over this, an intense vocal delivery builds towards a triumphant chorus, embellished with stunningly detailed guitar melodies.
