MARC BROUSSARD Chance Worth Taking Album Review

The acclaimed Louisiana singer-songwriter MARC BROUSSARD (the son of one time Louisiana Boogie King Ted Broussard and an internationally recognised artist in his own right) is known across the globe for his heartfelt song writing and meaningful soulful vocals.

Marc released his first full album of original blues, “Chance Worth Taking” on April 17th 2026, issued via KTBA Records. This release marks a significant creative turning point for this unique artist.

Broussard’s offers his audiences a richly poignant song-voice, evocative of the smoky depths of the perpetually darkening swamps of Louisiana. His intricately detailed songs encapsulate the grandeur of the moment and the inherent drama of an age, though the songs, like all classic blues numbers, also convey an underlying feeling of regret and misgiving. All this, while his unique butterscotch voice becomes an unctuous treat for the ears!

Joe Bonamassa not only produced “Chance Worth Taking” but also provided exceptional guitar playing and captivating solos on ten outstanding tracks, three of which he co-wrote with Broussard!

Josh Smith, a key figure in Marc’s exceptional creative ensemble, contributed to and co-authored four of the songs, while Calvin Turner, who collaborated with Broussard on ten original songs for the album, added rich string and horn arrangements.

Bonamassa kicks off “You’ll Be Sorry” with a retro-blues bottle-slide, then Smith introduces a cruising guitar riff. This piece sounds like a romping blues standard from the late 50’s and comes packed with gritty and soulful bluegrass flavours, and features high-performance vocals from Marc.

Fever” (featuring Joe Bonamassa and Josh Smith) delivers swingy, head-nodding, dance-friendly grooves, with Marc’s smooth vocals emerging from the acoustic brilliance of Bonamassa’s guitar, enhanced by Josh Smith’s finger-style magic, and supported by amazing organ notes from the talented “Double Trouble” keyboardist Reese Wynans.

I’m Going Home,” is a non-stop, exhilarating experience with driving beats, intricate horn melodies, and radiant guitar passages, elevated by Marc’s sweet, comforting voice that promises to touch your soul. On this track, Marc’s signature gingerbread-butter vocal will enrich your heart, make your head turn woozy, and will churn your knees! Alchemistical!

This superior album blends various styles, including robust backroom shuffles, wisely performed blues, energetic rock, and funky textures that overflow with joyful Mardi Gras expressionism. Yes, “Chance Worth Taking” is more than just worth taking; it’s an essential auditory experience for lovers of classic blues authenticity.
