Admired for her enthralling vocals, commanding bass playing, and doughty songwriting, multi-award-winning musician DANIELLE NICOLE often shares how her musical journey began with a life-changing concert during her teenage years in Kansas City.
“We had a great blues festival,” Nicole recalls, “…and I was able to see Etta James perform. She was fearless. My parents were musicians who played in cover bands, so music was always a part of my family — but I didn’t realize I wanted to sing and perform myself until I heard Etta.”
Danielle has announced her “Fireflies” February 2027 UK Tour. Tickets go on sale at 10am (UK) on Friday, July 10th via The Gig Cartel.
The tour will showcase her upcoming album, “Fireflies”, due for release via 40 Below Records on Friday, August 28th. The album is available to pre-save and pre-order here: https://fortybelow.ffm.to/fireflies.ODL

With “Fireflies”, Nicole delivers her most intimate and enterprising creative expression yet — an unadulterated and profoundly purposeful collection of songs recorded live to analogue tape. The new album explores upheaval, tenacity, self-determination, and reorientation through creative growth, delivering a nuanced shuffle of evocative blues, soul, R&B, and authentic roots sounds.
“There’s a lot of soul-driven music here,” Danielle says. “A lot of storytelling. It’s a major step forward in my songwriting.”
Produced by Tony Braunagel (Taj Mahal, Bonnie Raitt, Buddy Guy) and recorded in Danielle’s hometown of Kansas City, “Fireflies”emerged during an acutely heart-wrenching period in the musician’s life following the loss of her brother, Kris — a lifelong friend, bandmate in Trampled Under Foot, and essential musical collaborator. Though grief initially made it difficult to complete the project, Danielle found renewed solace and inspiration collaborating with guitarist Brandon Miller and legendary keyboardist Jim Pugh.
“Every album is an era of your life, where you write about whatever you’re going through,” Danielle explains. “When my brother passed away, I was still writing a lot, but my grief kept me from completing some of these songs. I had to push hard through the mental blocks.”
