On Thursday 27th August 2026, Montreal’s hippest rock ‘n’ rollers, THE DAMN TRUTH, played an exciting and very intimate semi-acoustic show at the Gibson Garage in London’s West End.
The Juno Award nominees deliver nuanced rock songs packed with relentless energy, country influences, fuzz-rock shimmer, and classic Rolling Stones-style flair to their many fans across the world. The band consider London to be their second home!
The Gibson Garage is a world-famous flagship store of the iconic guitar brand. Opened in 2024 as the Gibson brand’s first flagship store outside its Nashville base, the space displays over 300 instruments. Most are showcased on a overhead conveyor belt, suspended by their headstocks as they circle above keen visitors.
We caught up with The Damn Truth Gibson Garage down below the show-store, in the company’s acoustic room.
Among a hand-picked selection of songs , the band presented Be Somebody, featuring a soulful yet quickened chorus, layered tiers of paced determination, and a robust, highly appealing beat.
The band’s party-starting Killer Whale (watch the video below) was perhaps the most impressively multi-layered performance of the lunchtime session, highlighting the remarkably unique vocals of lead singer Lee-La Baum.
Lee-La’s crescenting, elongated vowels were yowled-out magically over unobtrusive rhythms and waves of succulent guitar. Even in a semi-acoustic format, with a Beetlejuice-hipped PY Letellier on bass, red-suited Tom Shemerr on guitar, and leopard-skinny Dave Traina on drums, the sumptuous chorus became electrifying and euphoric even in this compact setting..
The retro rockers recently announced their signing with Frontiers Music Srl and will release the Deluxe Edition of their self-titled album, The Damn Truth, on September 11th, 2026. Produced by Bob Rock (Metallica, Bon Jovi) and mixed by Rock and Adam Greenholtz (Mötley Crüe), the deluxe edition includes a bonus live recording of Be Somebody.
The Damn Truth are set to keep their momentum roaring with upcoming tour dates across the UK, Europe, and Canada, including high-profile guest appearances on Europe’s The Final Countdown – 40th Anniversary Tour.
