THE HU – HUN

Hunnu Rock pioneers THE HU — comprising of Galaa (morin khuur, throat singing); Jaya (tumur khuur, tsuur, throat singing); Enkush (morin khuur, throat singing); and Temka(tovshuur, throat singing) — have announced their forthcoming third full-length album, HUN, will be released on July 24 2026 via BETTER NOISE MUSIC https://thehu.lnk.to/hun

Formed in the capital city of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar, in 2016 the folk metal musicians perform with a bowed string instrument known as a morin khuur (a horse fiddle) an instrument that traditionally used horse-hair strings, a plucked string instrument known as a tovshuur (or topshur ) which was an instrument that was believed to have been played on the eve of a battle (attested to by explorer Marco Polo), an end-blown flute known as a tsuur, a mouth harp known as a tumur khuur, and with accompanying Mongolian war cries, poetic lyrics, and melodic voices that use the traditional throat-singing style.

‘Hu’ is the Mongolian word for ‘human being.’

The Hu’s music has been used in two video games from the Star Wars universe: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (2019) and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (2023).

The Hu have announced a headline UK and European tour for September and October 2026, with SKÁLD as special guests. The band will also join Iron Maiden at Knebworth Park on July 11th for the “Run For Your Lives” tour stop, alongside The Darkness, Airbourne, and The Almighty.

To support the new album, the band have released a visceral, wall-of-sound rock/metal collaboration entitled “Lost Soul” that features Jonny Hawkins of the Texas alt-metal band NOTHING MORE.

Lost Soul” is a head-nagging slammer of excitement and clamour. Driven by dark, earthy undertones and a galloping rhythm, it features Hawkins taking the eagle-high notes while The Hu demonstrate their emotive, extrasensory power in every drawn breath. This is a boiling uproar of barely constrained rage—vivid and intense.
