The ingenious, free-spirited country-blues grub-stakers WILLE & THE BANDITS — whose galvanic beats, artful swing, parading shimmy, and supercharged vocals we have previously described as “bluesy nostalgia with dark spirits rising…” — have released a raw and intimate six-track EP titled Wille and the Bandits – Acoustic Reversions Volume 1.
The release features brand-new songs alongside reworked versions of fan favourites, captured exactly as audiences hear them live.
The Acoustic Reversions EP comes hot off the heels of frontman Wille Edwards and bassist Harry Mackaill’s highly acclaimed stripped-back performances opening for Beth Hart on her recent European tour dates.
“The response to these stripped-back versions on tour was something special,” says Wille Edwards.
“People kept asking where they could hear them again, especially Trouble Round the Bend, so it felt right to release an acoustic version of the song. Stripping it back gave it a completely different energy, more intimate, more exposed, but still powerful in its own way. We wanted to capture exactly what people experienced in the room during the duo shows, no studio tricks, no overthinking, just the songs as they really are.”
a pizzicato comb of speckled dabbles, with anxious, heart-saddened vocals… and pain & grievance in every torn-apart note…
The EP is launched with a new single titled “Trouble Round the Bend,” with the acoustic version of the song comprising a pizzicato comb of speckled dabbles, anxious, heart-saddened vocals, and pain and grievance in every torn-apart note. This is mindful and expressionistic!
