Manchester (UK) band GIRL FRIENDhave revealed the last and final track off their new EP one day before they set off on their UK tour. [Dates below the stream].
Listen to “Style & Substance” below.
The band’s songs tend to channel the muse of lead singer Amory, an individual who paints himself in lyrics as a character with internal conflict.
We had a listen:
This is a glossy, well-bred and carefully finished number … like a short-haired pedigree cat sitting in a basket of silk. Noble, a little arrogant, and prickly if you let those claws sink-in.
The rebound of the gurgling bass will keep head-nods happy on the disco-floor…
Whilst the exceptional voice is more than purely decorative — it brings home the agony & pleasure then knocks it into your skull like a velvet-clad masonry hammer. The synth work is phenomenal too.
Rare, uncorrupted and wonderfully atmospheric synth-pop with a voice of purity surrounded by energetic dance-floor sounds. A journey into nostalgia, divine.
