Two of the UK’s best-loved music legends, ROBIN TROWER and MAXI PRIEST will join with multi-genre instrumentalist, writer and producer and former Waterboys musician LIVINGSTONE BROWN for a nationwide UK tour this October [dates below]
The three unique musicians have also joined forces for a new album, titled: “United State of Mind”, expected later this year.
After a chance meeting at Brown’s recording studio, Livingstone suggested, “Why don’t we write a song together?” Robin and Maxi said, “Why not?”
In fact, Robin, Maxi and Livingston went further than they might have dared, and struck-up a fruitful & prolific joint songwriting partnership. They developed a dozen new songs. Each song showcases Maxi’s smooth, emotional tones, and of course Trower’s emotive guitar play, along with Livingstone’s production modality.
Both blues guitarist/vocalist Robin Trower (Procol Harum) and reggae vocalist Maxi Priest were both born in Lewisham hospital (1945 & 1961 respectively) and from modest beginnings, both went on to enjoy bright musical careers, finding success both at home and in the US. Trower’s album “Bridge Of Sighs” went Gold, selling millions of albums Maxi is one of only two British reggae acts (along with UB40) to have an American Billboard number one with “Close to You” (1990. )
