The London Town rock act BLACK CALAVERA (originally from Weymouth on the English South-Coast) recorded a bouncy debut single titled “Generation” in May 2019. It has a lumpy boom-boom that’s clearly been influenced by ska.

Now the follow-up single, titled “Cigarettes” is out, and it has clean-cut guitar, an echoey and jazzy main voice from Charlie, a set of alka seltzer rhythms and lines of ingenious lyrics. This is as groovy as it is acidulous… and blooms into something quite transcendent…
This is, easily, the most proficient & precocious pop-rock number we’ve heard in a long time.
