The adorable, award-winning, “plum-peach” voiced, Bristol based, English singer-songwriter ELLES BAILEY whose raw live sound can be incredibly intimate at times but always comes full of vital excitement, will release a special single with THE MIDNIGHT BAND this weekend, 26th June, 2020.
Their song is a cover of soul legend Wilson Pickett’s 1970 classic ‘Don’t Let the Green Grass Fool You’. Their collaboration was recorded and mixed completely under the COIVD-19 lockdown conditions.
The Midnight Band is a newly composed line-up consisting of : Bob Fridzema (keys, Joanne Shaw Taylor, Sari Schorr ); Ash Wilson (guitars, Sari Schorr ); Greg Smith (bass, Laurence Jones ); Phil Wilson (drums, Laurence Jones) and Cat Fullbrook ( vocals).
The video (see below) shows the artists performing their parts, brought together by the magic of Phil Wilson’s audio and video mix … it’s a statement and a testament to our times!
With irresistible platinoid guitar squelches right from the very start — the vocal soon joins in and is as smooth as pastry-cream but comes with a hint of barleybrake roughness to give it that kinda husky ‘n’ sassy sound. And the organ – wow! It oozes like butterfat from a hot cornstalk. This is a delicious sizzle!
