Rome’s (US-GA) THE GEORGIA THUNDERBOLTS are preparing to influence the booming Southern Rock scene with the release of their self titled debut EP due to be released via Mascot Records on August 21st 2020.

The Georgia Thunderbolts
The Georgia Thunderbolts – heavy-duty riffage, plus some strutting vocals

The quintet, consisting of TJ Lyle (vox, harp, piano) Riley Couzzourt (guitar) Logan Tolbert (guitar) Zach Everett (bass, keys) and Bristol Perry (drums) — acquaint their listeners with a sound that’s infused by expressive, sweet-tea southernality ‘n’ swagged-up blues-rock.

The band acquired experience by performing with everyone from Black Stone Cherry and The Kentucky Headhunters to the new crop of Southern bands including The Cadillac Three, Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown, and Bishop Gunn.

They recorded the debut EP at Barrick Recording Studios, in Glasgow, Kentucky (Nashville Pussy) and the result is a disc filled with indisputably uplifting numbers.

For example, “Looking For An Old Friend” has sweetly evocative chords, and a long, slow coil of instrumental fill. This is plaintive, with kindly vocals and a warmth that emerges across the landscape like an aureate dawn lighting-up the Appalachians.

Though “Lend A Hand” (video shared below) is somewhat buzzier and comes fully-stocked with heavy-duty riffage, plus strutting vocals and brilliant punch-card percussion. This number will suit the Black Stone Cherry (perhaps even the Bad Company ) devotees as much as the smoother, gentler Blackberry Smoke community.
