Virginia-born, now Nashville-based, fast-rising star KAITLYN BAKER — bandied as one of the “Top 10 Country Artists to Watch” by The Huffington Post — has released her latest single, titled ‘Hound Dog’.
She also announced she’ll play the prestigious C2C Festival in the U.K. later in March 2022.
Kaitlyn explains the impetus behind her latest song’: “My husband — Joe Lasher — and I are both singer/songwriters and thanks to the COVID situation, like a lot of folks, we had a lot of time at home.”
“We started writing a bunch of songs together and this one was just so fun. It was refreshing to record a song that allowed me to channel a more traditional country and honkytonk side of my music.”
“What you get with ’Hound Dog’ is a fun, quirky, and upbeat song. It is a new take on the ‘he did you wrong’ story. It’s playful and packs a lot of attitude!”
Opening with a harvest of masterly guitar picks, setting-up an effervescent tempo for the first verse, and with an ongoing and flirtatious keyboard hustle, ‘Hound Dog‘ delivers Kaitlyn’s sassily playsome vocal, dispensed in typical Nashville fashion i.e. it’s unshakeable, decorative, and oh-so eloquent.
Yet the number also accomplishes shameless enthusiasm and freehanded sauciness! Wowster!
This release brings together a bunch of masterful artists, with Kaitlyn on vocals, Jonathan Brown on keys; Duncan Mullins on bass; Jeremy Medkiff on guitars, and Tony Creasman on drums. The single was recorded at Van Atkins’ Shop Studio in Candler, North Carolina.
‘Hound Dog’ is out now on all digital platforms
