Satriani and Vai, along with their bands, united for their inaugural joint tour this past spring in select U.S. cities, sparking their decision to create a collaborative project and take their joint-band to European stages.
After almost five decades of friendship, Joe Satriani and Steve Vai worked on their debut musical project in March 2024. “The Sea of Emotion, Pt. 1” highlights the unmatched synergy between these two legendary guitarists as they seamlessly trade solo sections throughout the opus. Their next joint project drops right before their European tour, heightening the excitement for the shows.
The musical paths of Satch and Vai have been closely connected since their earliest musical beginnings. Satriani taught Vai guitar when they were teenagers living in Long Island, New York. Their bond deepened over time, marked by shared record labels—Relativity in the late 80s and Sony/Epic through much of the 90s. For three decades, they’ve frequently collaborated with a third guitarist on their semi-annual G3 tours, both domestically and internationally.
