With the release of her strong new single “What Are You Gonna Do Now?” (out now via Journeyman Records) English blues-rock superstar JOANNE SHAW TAYLOR continues the explosive launch of her upcoming album Black & Gold.
We praised her previous album, ‘Heavy Soul,’ describing it as “unrestrained expressiveness… [and] … a joyful, southern blues-inspired emotion.”
Describing the personal experience that led to writing the song, JST reveals: “I was unfortunate enough some years ago to have a brief relationship with a terrible narcissist...”
If you don’t want someone to write a song about you being a terrible person, don’t be a terrible person…

“I’ve never really spoken much about it and certainly never addressed it in my music. For anyone who’s ever been in that position, you’ll understand how damaging that kind of mental abuse can be.
I think I’ve never been brave enough to write about them before as I was genuinely scared of them. I’m not now—screw them. If you don’t want someone to write a song about you being a terrible person, don’t be a terrible person.”
During a 2025 U.S. Spring Tour, which includes a much-anticipated engagement with Keeping The Blues Alive at Sea X from March 21–26, Joanne will bring Black & Gold to life on stage.
Fans should anticipate an intense performance that includes both classic favourites and brand-new songs, all of which will be delivered with the unadulterated passion and the captivating charisma we have come to define this amazing artist.
