BRAVE RIVAL have released ‘Control’, the second single from a forthcoming E.P.

The previous single, ‘Poison’ was a riff-based road burner with razor-wire vocals, bootlace-tight rhythms, and a searing guitar solo.

Brave Rival’s modern take on classic rock has earned them a dedicated fanbase across the U.K.

We’ve described their stage-show as an “elixir for sonorific dreams” and “a multidimensional experience”.

With ‘Control‘ the band has moved from their previous five-piece witch-spirited soul-rock vibe to a much more closely-packed, harder-edged, psychologically heavier rockscape. ‘Control’ signifies a change in instrumentation, amplitude, and even aggression!

“’Control’ started as a riff in a hotel room just as we were meant to be leaving,” said guitarist Ed ‘the Shred’ Clark. “The idea weirdly sparked from Billy humming a completely different tune, but inspiration struck, and I had to get my guitar out to quickly record what was in my head!”

Lead vocalist Linsey Bonnick added: “Lyrically, it’s probably my angriest song. And there have been a few now! It’s coming from a place of a failed relationship and a recognition that I needed to take back control of my life

The new EP, titled ‘5 to 4’ will be the band’s first release as a four-piece. Produced by Tarrant Shepherd and recorded at Mayfair Studio, Churt, as well as Global Fire Studios in Fareham, the sessions were professionally filmed for a stunning series of music videos. Each track has been mixed in immersive Dolby Atmos, producing a stunning combination of music and imagery that gives viewers a genuinely remarkable experience.

Drummer Donna Peters said, “To me, this EP is Brave Rival at our core, all the fire, the emotion, and that spark we get when the four of us lock in together. It’s the start of a new chapter for us and we cannot wait to take people on the journey

Bassist Billy ‘Danger’ Dedman commented, “There are moments that hit you with big riffs and others that strip everything down to something really raw and honest. That balance is what 5 to 4 is all about. We’ve put everything into these songs. It’s a mix of our blues-rock roots with something fresh and forward-looking, and I think that passion really comes through.
