The British blues-rock guitarist and singer/songwriter LAURENCE JONES has won several major accolades across a supremely successful career and has supported the likes of Gary Clark Jr, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Van Morrison, Buddy Guy, Robert Cray, Joe Bonamassa, Eric Burdon et al.
We’ve described his sound as “invigorating … filled with rocky nuances that tail into power ribbons of harmonic tenderness…”
Now Jones has released a single, the title song from his forthcoming album titled “On My Own” (due for release on January 23rd, 2026.)
This intimate album, which is a return to Jones’ roots and the raw blues sounds that first inspired him, was a manifestation of his recent health issues.
a blues epistolet with a simple yet subtle rocking beat, delicate paraffin vocals, and skillful musicality in each draw and stroke…
RAW RAMP
“This album came out of one of the hardest times of my life,” explained Jones.
The album’s true pivot is the pure truthfulness of this title track. “I was exhausted, in pain, and had lost a lot of weight due to Crohn’s disease. Picking up my guitar became my only release. Playing and writing the blues was the one way I could truly express what I was going through. On My Own became not just a song, but a lifeline.”
“I hit rock bottom with my health and couldn’t even leave the house for months. But out of that darkness came some of the most honest music I’ve ever written. Sharing this journey has brought me closer to my fans, and I hope the songs can give comfort to anyone fighting their own battles.”
With echoes of Rory Gallagher’s approach, the acoustically fingered number is a blues epistolet with a simple yet subtle rocking beat, delicate paraffin vocals, and skillful musicality in each draw and stroke.
