The acclaimed guitarist and singer-songwriter and South African Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, STEVE LOUW has announced the release of his fourth studio album Traces of the Flood.
Produced by Kevin Shirley (Joe Bonamassa, Joanne Shaw Taylor, Beth Hart), the album was released by BFD/The Orchard on Friday May 15th, and is available to order on CD, vinyl and digital.
This new ten-song album offers a complete listening experience, with each track deeply resonating with listeners and presenting the artist’s most confident work to date.
We described the first single from the album, “Time To Move” as “reminiscent of Rough and Rowdy Ways era Dylan with a generous beanpot of sound that serves craggy truths.”
To coincide with the album release, Louw has released the title track, “Traces of the Flood” with a music video (shared below.) A lively bass-line complements the jangling guitar and raw beats on this flourishing piece. The lyrics’ dryness and in-built stoicism complement the aridness of the Americana soundscape. This is for those who appreciate Jacques Levy’s narrative songs and the sound of McGuinn, Clark & Hillman.
“Traces of the Flood is a song where you have to keep moving,” says Louw. “…traveling from the sea to the source of an African river. In a timeless landscape, cut through by wind and water, we meet renegades and rebels, lawmen and ladies, on a journey which becomes one of self-discovery.”
