With their signature combination of alternative rock and bluesy grit, When Rivers Meet consistently challenge creative possibilities. The duo, one of only a few completely independent musical acts in the UK have had two albums in the Official UK Top 10, and have gained recognition for exceeding their audience’s expectations and forging their own way in the music business. The pair imbues their music with a modern, stripped-down blues authenticity, featuring a genuine, local feel. This sound channels the energy of 70s classic rock while also referencing the 1930s blues roots that influence the genre.
We described the band’s debut album, ‘We Fly Free’ as “great clobbers of drum, badgering bass-notes, glops of flocculating guitar and miaows of extolling vocal…” and we added, “If you like your blues served with loads of smear, creosote, and undeniable passion, you will treasure When Rivers Meet.”
We described ‘Saving Grace‘ (2021) as “filled with fervor, ardor and flammability…” And we said “Aces Are High” was “exquisitely intoxicating!”
With a more developed and polished production style on their 2025 “Addicted To You,” the band has since embarked on a new creative journey for their most recent recordings. Rhythm Rust & Static has a more unadorned seat-of-the-pants feel to it, reflecting the vitality and grit of those earlier recordings, where atmosphere and flaws were central to the soul of their mystical acoustics.
Speaking about the album Grace Bond says: “We’ve never followed the music industry rulebook, and this album is another step in that journey. Every decision we’ve made has been about staying true to who we are as artists, and Rhythm Rust & Static reflects that freedom.
As for our fifth studio album, we’re incredibly proud of how far we’ve come and grateful for the support that’s helped us get here. We’re so excited to take these songs out on the road and connect with people through them… these songs were written for the road!”
In addition to the album, the duo has unveiled “Horizon,” a new single (video shared below.) This track song offers a thoughtful and hopeful perspective on dealing with ambiguity and relying on the journey’s progression, even when an end result remains uncertain. It’s a perfect anthem for this unpredictable world we live in.
