The fast rising Winchester (UK) trio Wild Smiles ( Chris Peden – vocals & guitar, with Joe Peden – vocals & bass, plus Ben Cook – drums) have just signed to Rob da Bank’s Sunday Best Recordings and in a separate publishing deal with Sunday Best / Domino Publishing Co that sees the two publishers come together in a joint venture for the first time, and the new single: ‘Fool For You’ is the first fruit of their labours.
Wild Smiles are currently working on their debut album, which is expected later this year.
In anticipation of some-kind of summer arriving to these shores anytime soon, we have been listening to ‘Fool For You‘ – here’s what we think:
‘Fool For You’ is a buzzy bit of beat-pop.
A surging skurfing pace grabs you by your Tommy Bahama scruffs and pushes you along.
The harmonies are gently laced – with sweet guitar licks – and a fruity woo-woo sound that seems to rise like sparkling tuna.
This is splendid and frothy – if not a little empty-headed.
Nevertheless, you will want to get your camper out and head straight for the shoreline to ride those tubes.
