The Bristol, UK, award-winning singer-songwriter ELLES BAILEY has announced the release of her brand new stripped-back covers album titled ‘Ain’t Nothing But’ recorded live during the 2020 pandemic. The album will be released via CD only, on December 11th2020.
Today she premieres the video to the first single from the album, for the song “Crowded Table”.
We thought her second album “Road I Call Home” (2019) was “breathtakingly intimate” and came stuffed with compositions that were “packed with vital emotion.”
The new 16-track covers album, recorded live as part of her “Ain’t Nothing But” livestream series held at White Noise Studios during the Summer of 2020 features sensational performances from guests that include the Mohawkestra’s Joe Wilkins (guitar & background vocals), the impressively talented singer-songwriter Phil King (guitar & background vocals) & the True Strays‘ Joe James (on double bass & background vocals.)
‘Crowded Table’(video shared below) is a song written by Brandi Carlile, with Natalie Hemby, and Lori McKenna and was released by the country music supergroup, The Highwomen, in 2019.
Elles version of the song is delicately accompanied, with ruminating guitar, lovesome backing vocals and the kind of estranged pain in the voice that signifies self-denial but hints of cautious anticipation. This is eloquently simple but accomplished with style.
