Abe Covers Will You

Shy Michigan singer-songwriter and producer Daniel Wilson creates multi-layered sounds with muffled, ethereal voices reminiscent of Prince.

Will You” from his “Young Rubbish” E.P. is a spiritually radiant song – incredibly beautiful.

abe shortNow, Abe the Sheffield (UK) trio has re-created “Will You”…

Around the windmills of dark cello sound – and hair-raising cries that fly up into the air like banshees – the beat comes at you (and kicks) like a club-footed bear with a grudge.

Crashing and stumbling into the thicket, the rhythms bluster on.

Guitars are plucked harshly – and are as swift and as full of stinging revenge as gnats in the night air.

Matthew Clubbs Coldron offers up the 80s style Jimmy Somerville vocal. It is clear, pure and luminous.

The vocal rides on top of the clutter. Matthew seems to look down angelically. Peering at all the drama beneath – the angular sounds – the littering surface of this song.

This is beautifully rendered.

Full of growth and ever-increasing self-confidence.
