Mr Moonshine – Saucy and brilliant…
We had an early listen:

The album begins with the saucy and brilliant (sometimes dusty) ‘My Left Hand’ – sparks of guitar mesh with a voice that is often soft and squishy.

Sounds gurgle eloquently – and sometimes follow the guitars comet-tail as it soars into the refined setting.

Scary People’ judders and thumps.

Clever guitars add interlaced signals and edge the song along … and into a subdued haunted atmosphere. The lyrics suggest unease at every corner and on every bus-stand. Eerie and complete.

Waltzing ‘Comfort Me With Absinthe’ is wise, bluesish and dance floor ready. It is a lullaby for those lost in the bottom of their glasses.

Cookie Dog’ is more grinding – darker and growlier than the other stuff. But this still contains a heart of theatricals and is full of off-kilter madness.

Perhaps the most mundane track is the closer ‘Bend Or Break’ which is a gently organic popper. With hinges that are like coloured explosions and a fruity, happy rhythm.

Random, cute, sad and happy. All things for everyman. A cabaret for the heart. Full of brain-storming brilliance and preening intelligence.
