Collecting comparisons to Lorde, Haim and London Grammar whilst, at the same time, inviting similitude to Gary Numan and Depeche Mode — Healyum’s debut single ‘Fools Eyes’ is about to be released.
Healyum is a 5-piece band consisting of siblings Jeaná, Katie and Jed Healy, along with Nathanael Degning and Pip Benjamin all based in Bedfordshire, UK.
Their songs have deep-damson vocals, and drums that thump with hollow effect — sounds that creep into your heart.
We have been listening (again) to Fools Eyes:
This has dark waves of ringleted sentiment that curl around the main sonic structure.
The vocal (from 15-year-old lead vocalist and songwriter Jeaná ) recalls Florence. Masterful and authoritative.
The bass (Pip ) pricks the surface before small streams of synth (from Jed) ripple darkly across the pool.
This is eerily beautiful. A delight for glooming nerves.
