The Ex-Noah And The Whale bassist Matt Owens has a band called LITTLE MAMMOTHS who have a superb new album out titled ‘Cargo For the Road’
The London-based rock’n’ roll bar-band was founded in 2014 along the lines of The Hold Steady, Drive-by Truckers and Wilco and comprised of Matt Owens with some some of his oldest friends, including Olly Cox on bass and James Besley on drums. The band also now play with the pedal steel player Joe Harvey-Whyte who is back in the band along with a 3-piece horn section.
Their debut album ‘Phantom Dreams’ was recently released on vinyl — Spring 2017 — and features a set of rowdy songs about pub lock-ins on the West Coast of Ireland and The Scottish Highlands.
The quartet’s steadfast gigging and unflagging work ethic often results in sets lasting in excess of four hours…
Little Mammoths released their second album ‘Cargo For the Road’ this June and the band are set to promote the record through 2017 with extensive touring around Europe, and a also full UK festival run that included the recent Glastonbury session.
See them play LIVE tonight at The Islington, 1 Tolpuddle Street, Angel, London, UK.
