Following the recent release of their healing & relatable new single “What Other People Say” via RCA Records, SAM FISCHER and DEMI LOVATO have now shared the demonstrative and persuasive official video for the number (shared below.)
The film is directed by the MTV Music Video Award nominated director Dano Cerny ( who also worked on “Just Got paid” by Sigala & “Closer” by Chainsmokers feat Halsey plus many more). The new video features Sam and Demi inside a train car, showing them living their own lives but with a unity of emotion that highlights the song’s message that we are all alone… together.
Composed by the Australian neo-soul singer-songwriter Sam Fischer, the musician knew the number would become a duet and was blown away when the GRAMMY-nominated singer Demi Lovato agreed to accompany him on vocals.
Written about the feeling of being alone and not wanting to disappoint others, the couple take two different lives and perspectives and bring them together in a message of human experience, emotion, and harmonious connectedness.

With over 5 million worldwide streams since its release, it’s a truly special track with a powerful, soulful, and uber-relevant chorus. It’s Sam’s first official single release since the re-release of “This City”.
Sam says: “What Other People Say is a confession, realizing how far away you can get from who you are in an effort to be liked. It’s about the pressures of society and how getting caught up with the wrong things can change you.”
Demi says: “This song is a reflection on what it’s like to lose who you truly are in an effort to please other people and society. It’s why I wanted to make this song with Sam – ultimately it’s about two humans coming together to connect and find solutions to their problems.”
The song begins with Demi’s wonderfully controlled & emotional soul search, but soon her inner emotions inflame as they rise higher than perhaps mercy will allow… that’s when Sam bestows kindness and sincerity with a voice of lulling swanskin and seraph-feathered empathy. It’s amazing!
Alongside the announcement of the single, Sam also shared that he has been chosen as YouTube’s first ‘Artist on the Rise’ for 2021, which follows previous winners Mabel, Aitch, Freya Ridings, Mahalia, Beabadoobee and Celeste.
