The UK-based slide guitarist, songwriter, producer and ghost conjurer TROY REDFERN whose recent recordings we have likened to the shaggy clarity of Elmore James, the conspicuous integrity of Noël Akchoté, and the sandpapery distinctness of Mississippi Fred McDowell, will be heading out with the enduring & perpetually glam-buoyant band THE SWEET for the remaining dates of their “Hellraiser” December 2021 UK Tour. (Troy will replace Limehouse Lizzy who have pulled-out due to sickness.)
All dates (below) on tour poster.
The most recent incarnation of THE SWEET features the original founding member & guitarist Andy Scott, with lead singer Paul Manzi (Cats in Space, Raw Glory) drummer Bruce Bisland (Praying Mantis), bassist/vocalist Lee Small (Shy, Phenomena, Lionheart,) and guitairst/keyboard player Steve Mann (Liar, Tytan.)
In October the band re-released “Everything (2021)” a song that originally appeared on the 2002 album “Sweetlife” (issued, back then, by Andy Scott’s Sweet). We thought the updated version of the song was expansive, really lordly, lavish, velvety, and encapsulated the restless melancholia we all now feel.
