The UK Blues Awards Acoustic Artist of the Year, 2021, (he’ll be representing the United Kingdom at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis this May 6th-9th 2022) the Northern Irish blues guitarist DOM MARTIN is to release his album newest album, “A Savage Life” on April 8th 2022.
Produced by Grammy Nominated Chris O’Brien (The High Kings, Waterboys) “A Savage Life” was recorded in Belfast and Dublin during the second half of 2021. The album features songs arranged by Dom (guitar and vocals), with accompanists Dave Thompson (bass guitar) and Laurence McKeown (drums).
His recent single titled “12 Gauge was a “musketoon of heavy rockin’ vibes, dry ashplant vocals, sputtering slide, and griddle-splashing crackle…” (RAW RAMP) but now he brings his audience an eloquently spellbinding and profoundly engaging new single: “Echoes.”
On “Echoes” the musician seduces slender, almost lanky, notes from his acoustic guitar, while his voice brings tones of oak & red cherry brandy to a song about loss. He ponders the mystical prolongation of souls — the wayfarers who have moved on — yet somehow they stay close to us. So, as the soft number develops, it becomes ever-filled with encouragement; and also a sense of nervous, restful, peace.
