Robert Jon and the Wreck Pain No More

ROBERT JON & the WRECK rein the pain

On November 9th, Blues-Rock Titan Joe Bonamassa’s newest independent record label Journeyman Records released “Pain No More”  the most recent and maybe the heaviest single yet from Southern/Roots rockers ROBERT JON & THE WRECK.

The groundbreaking track was the outcome of the Wreck’s remarkable collaboration with 8-time Grammy Award winner Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, Brandi Carlisle, Blackberry Smoke, Rival Sons), who the band have long admired.

Working with Dave Cobb was incredible,” recalls frontman Robert Jon Burrison.

RCA studios was such a legendary place and Dave Worked so fast that we almost didn’t even know what was happening. Before we knew it, we had one of the best songs we’ve ever recorded with the least stress we’ve ever had in a studio. He’s the embodiment of what it means to be a great producer.”

Pain No More” is co-written by Charlie Starr of Blackberry Smoke, and all four members of Robert Jon & The Wreck – Robert Jon Burrison (vocals, guitar), Henry James (Schneekluth, guitar), Warren Murrel (bass) and Andrew Espantmen (drums).

The new single is about not being a stranger to pain and heartbreak when it comes to a relationship with another,” says frontman Robert Jon Burrison. “It’s the kind of pain that comes when the other person doesn’t treat you well, but deep down inside, you know you’re worth more.”

With heart-pounding, contagious harmonies and a jaw-dropping guitar riff that’s more attention-getting ‘n’ razor-sharp than a mattress made out of barrel cacti, the vocal comes at you like coal-tar creosote and diesel-smeared buckskin. The single also features a compelling slide guitar solo by lead guitar operative Henry that’s lankier than a power pole lineman working topmast on the highest-voltage.

Although The Wreck are a modern outfit from Orange County, California, fans have compared them to the much-loved bands of the 1970s. Rock ‘n’ roll, Country, Americana, and Blues are blended together in a sound that is distinctly Southern. On this new single The Wreck demonstrate why they belong in such elite company as Blackberry Smoke, Rival Sons, Whiskey Myers, and Black Crowes.

In fact ‘Pain No More’ is a foreshowing of The Wreck’s forthcoming 2023 EP, ‘One Of A Kind,’ which will be distributed by Journeyman Records, and will feature new original compositions by renowned producer Don Was (John Mayer, The Rolling Stones, Bonnie Raitt).
