ROBERT JON+THE WRECK Find Who To Love

The Southern roots rockers ROBERT JON & THE WRECK have released “Who Can You Love,” the compelling, Americana-infused second single from their forthcoming extended-play ‘One Of A Kind,’ that’s due out March 10th 2023 via Joe Bonamassa’s newest independent label, Journeyman Records.

The song was co-written with longtime RJTW collaborator, Ian Cullen and was mixed by Greg Koller (The Oak Ridge Boys, Perfume Genius.)

Produced by the legendary, multi-GRAMMY Award winning Don Was (Bonnie Raitt, The Stones, John Mayer), the number was recorded at Hensen Studios in Los Angeles (the same studio that gave us iconic albums such as “Tapestry” by Carole King and “Blue” by Joni Mitchell, as well as many others).

From 2009 to 2012, the Was (Not Was) ‘brother’ hosted a weekly radio show on Sirius XM satellite radio’s Outlaw Country channel called The Motor City Hayride. Over  his 50+ year career, Don Was has received four Grammy Awards, including the 1994 Grammy Award for Producer of the Year.

Don is a mysterious guy,” commented the Wreck’s frontman Robert Jon Burrison, on their collaboration with Was.

He’s so much about the vibe of the song, rather than the details, and he loves making stuff that sounds raw. He would tell awesome stories about the Dead and the Stones, and there was just so much gravity in his words because he’s been in those legendary rooms. It’s hard not to be intimidated but he made us feel right at home.”

There aren’t a lot of great rock and roll bands out there playing’ right now,” added Don Was. “It’s a real thrill to be able to record this kind of music with such a great band.”

Who can you love?

Who Can You Love” grows endearingly into a piece about disconnectedness, destructibility, and love’s collapsibility, delivered as an elaborately braided and warmly rendered country-rock accomplishment. It begins with a commiserate demeanour before the tillering of memory stirs sparkling moments of nostalgic delight.

The vocals of Robert Jon are windburned, but nutritious. The guitars are genuinely heartwarming, and the rhythms are sportive without being rompish. As with all blessings, this will come to brighten a gloomy day or comfort a frail heart. Very highly recommended!

One of a kind E.P.

Who Can You Love” is the latest in a series of singles that Robert Jon & The Wreck will roll out over the next year, beyond the release of their ‘One Of A Kind’ EP.

The band’s association with Journeyman Records gives them the ability to work with the world’s finest producers and release a regular stream of high quality songs, on an ongoing basis, cutting through the industry turbulence and ensuring that new music is always accessible to fans.
